Basically they are no specific rules to be being happy, you just have to figure out what works for you and stick to it, making yourself happy at all times should be a NECESSITY and not a choice.
Can you figure out what makes you happy and brings that genuine smile to your face? Most people have gotten used to the fake plastered smile they use when they interact with people that they have actually forgotten how to really smile. Happiness could come from munching on a bar of chocolate, to spending time with friends and family to even meeting strangers, we all have a reason to be happy each day of our lives…
Let’s see if this tips helps us in being happy (remember though, they are no rules to being happy, so pick out what works for you and ditch what doesn’t).
SMILE OFTEN
Have you tried smiling to a people you come across as you start your day? This little gesture could brighten up yours and their day, and there’s this happy feeling that comes with knowing you’re the reason behind a person’s smile. Waking up early in the morning and already smiling before starting your day puts you in a happy mood and people you will come across will also share in your happiness, plus smiling brightens up and adds beauty to your face.
GET ENOUGH SLEEP Lack of sleep does a lot of things to our mind and body, it is very difficult to be happy when you are so tired and all you want to do is to actually get some sleep you end up being grumpy, no matter how busy you get, make sure to get at least 7-8 hours sleep daily as an adult. If you have difficulty falling asleep at night, try to make sure your bedding is comfortable, avoid eating and drinking too heavy before going to bed. When you get enough sleep, you wake up feeling relaxed, positive, energetic and ready to face a new day.
EAT HEALTHY
There’s a popular saying that says “a hungry man is an angry man”. Now, we already know the important of healthy eating can never be over emphasized, apart from having major benefits on our physical health, it’s also plays a major role on our mental well being.
Make sure not to skip meals and eat a well balanced diet, train your mind to avoid unhealthy food (else you become overweight) and learn to control wide cravings. A bar of chocolate or a bowl of ice cream can’t hurt once in a while though.
Carbohydrate for instance release Serotonin which is a “happy feeling hormone” (it’s healthier to stick to complex carbohydrates), protein releases Dopamine and Norepinephrine which boast energy and concentration.
Try to make an alteration in your diet weekly so you don’t get bored of eating the same food.
BE CONTENDED AND GRATEFUL
Take a few minutes out of your day to look at all the blessings around you, you might not necessarily be where you want to be at that point in your live, but you have a lot of things other people would kill for, for instance, you up and alive and healthy, you have the strength and opportunity to actually go out and make a difference.
You have friends, family or just that one person who has always been there for you and loves your genuinely, it could be a colleague who always greets you with a warm smile every morning, or that period you passed your exams in flying colors, that office promotion you got, just name it, we all have different reasons to be grateful and happy
Like I said earlier, they are no basic rules to happiness, so stick to that which makes you happy, love yourself enough to know your worth, have fun, fight those battles head on, it’s okay to be going through challenges, what is not okay is letting it bring you down, you don’t know if you would win till you actually try, try to spend more time with people who you love, and also doing things that makes you happy, exercise regularly to get rid of stress and feel relax, count your blessings and be grateful for them, name your sad moments and then forget them and make an effort to make yourself happy.
Remember happiness for you should be a NECESSITY and not a CHOICE
